Fumoir du coteau

J’ai un vieux Kanuk….. sérieux…. un vieux Kanuk…. au moins 25 ans….. le modèle Otarie…. pendant longtemps le manteau du dimanche…. que l’on garde propre………..le temps a passé….. les marques du temps étaient évidentes…. racheter le même modèle…… de la même couleur…. le vieux manteau a débuté sa seconde vie… il est devenu le manteau des petites jobs dans le froid…. difficile de s’en débarrasser…. et puis il est devenu le manteau des feux de camp dans l’automne….. impossible de s’en débarrasser….. et le plus important….. le manteau des fumaisons par grands froid… il ne m’a jamais laissé tomber…. il a été là pour chacune d’elle…. dans le froid… le froid d’Antarctique parfois…. et même aussi la pluie…. ce soir il se repose… suspendu au crochet de la porte… j’ai quand dû le garder pour un bout avant que la cabane se réchauffe….. mais maintenant…. il fait bon et chaud dans la cabane…. l’époque avant la cabane était surréaliste…. mais on a fait un plan……. une belle cabane de 10 pieds par 12 pieds….on a fini avec une cabane 10 pieds 6 pouces par 12 pieds 6 pouces… apparemment qu’il y a une différence entre centre-centre et dimensions extérieures…..

 

Un après-midi de farniente…. j’ai apporté une vieille chaise de camp pliante de style lazy-boy…. un cadeau d’un beauf….. un après-midi de détente…. mis le pied à terre…. arrêté le carrousel…. la cabane a cette effet…. assis près du poêle à boucane…. impossible de presser le temps….

 

L’hiver s’est installé pour vrai dans le coteau…. en fin d’après-midi bien avant l’heure des chiens et des loups… le corneilles croassaient de pleine voix… elles avaient repéré Filosophe et Philomène qui avaient décidé profiter de la lumière pour tenter de trouver pitance…. la neige épaisse et durcit ne facilite pas la vie aux habitants du coteau…

 

Les loups ont rejoints les chiens sur le pont……. malgré le froid on se console…… dans peu de temps… le jour gagnera sur la nuit… le temps se sera radoucit peut-être un peu… la vie sera peut-être plus douce….. mais la vie est toujours bonne…… dans le coteau…

 

Dernière fumaison avant Noël... le saumon sera prêt à compter de mardi…. il devrait y avoir du saumon pour toutes la période de Fêtes…..

I have an old coat… a Kanuk…. the model is called Otarie….at least 25 years old…. when I first bought it….. it was the coat….. the one you took a great pride… but long after the normal life of a coat… the old Kanuk was replaced… same model…. same color…… the old coat began a second life… the coat for jobs outside when it is was cold… difficult to get rid of him now….. then he became the coat for fire camp in the autumn… impossible to get rid of it now… and then he became the coat for the smoking…. he never missed one smoking …… from the most cold night….. when the night felt like Antarctica…. to milder…. when the cold rain was falling….but we had a plan… a nice cabin…. 10 feet by 12 feet…. we ended up with a cabin of 10 feet 6 inches by 12 feet 6 inches…apparently there is a difference between exteriors measurement and center to center… tonight the old Kanuk is resting on a hook of the cabin’s door…. it took quite some time before it was warm enough so I could remove it but tonight is it nice and warm in the cabin…. the life before the cabin was a bit surreal…

 

An afternoon of laziness… took down an old camp chair… the lazy-boy type… a gift from a brother-in–law…. it was nice to slow down the merry go-round… was even able to touch ground…. the cabin has that effect…. sitting in front of the smoke stove…it is impossible to force time….

Winter has settle for real in the coteau…. Filosophe and Philomène decided to take advantage of the light to look for food… the crows saw them… they chased them… that heavy and frozen snow is making life a bit difficult for the inhabitants of the coteau….

 

The wolves and the dogs met on the bridge… the night is so cold… but they are wise…they know that … soon…. day will gain on night…..maybe the weather will be nicer… maybe life will be easier…… the life is always good in the coteau…

 

Last smoking before Christmas…. salmon will be ready on Tuesday….. smoked salmon should be available all through the Holidays period….
